Relina's STILL MIA...

I'm finally settled in at school again, but I'm not having any luck logging on. I haven't been here long, but the gist I got from roommates is that the internet was down all day today (at least) due to construction and whatever else. I'm hoping that there's just still some disconnect somewhere that won't allow me to log onto WoW. If I don't find out more by tomorrow, Wednesday the apartment complex is having a mandatory tenant meeting, so hopefully then I'll know more.

(If they ban online gaming, I am going to be really upset!)

I still have a day to go before the meeting (where hopefully they'll cover the internet thing), but in poking around online it seems the internet provider here blocks many things, including YouTube. (I can't even watch awesome guild movies now!) It seems they're doing everything they can to protect our delicate minds...

I was able to access another apartment's wireless last night, so I was able to log on, but the latency was so high it took a while for me to even check my mail. Ugh.

Chev, I do have to ask. I hate to see the guild fall into decline if I can't play for the next eight months (I really don't want to think about it!), and you've already done a lot for the guild to get it where it is. If worse comes to worse, would you take on being guild master while I am unable to play?

You can bet I'll do what I can to overcome being blocked! ...best thing would be knowing which provider they're using for sure so I can contact the place...and hope I'm not ignored like with the other provider. Worse comes to worse I'll borrow the wireless and check in on things at least, even if I can't run anything.

I'd say yes, but if I came back to find you'd become some huge overlord enslaving the people, you know I'd be forced to overthrow you.

Since when does a provider choose what u can do with the internet? I'm confused.

From what I saw, they put up filters to help the schools...and yet they ban things that I can access at school, so I think they got a bit carried away. (Granted I can't play WoW on campus...)

Perhaps a memo to the school extolling the virtues of on-line gaming would help. Here are some ideas:
1) time management (how long is this run going to take? why is it taking forever? oh, cuz that dude we pugged keeps aggroing stuff when he shouldn't.
2) interpersonal skills (telling said pug to leave)
3) finance management (this run cost me more than I made off the trash mobs)
4) statistics (gear, of course)

...the list goes on! Let your university know that you're missing out on useful educational opportunities, and they can either fix the problem, or refund a big chunk of your tuition.

I wish it was the university, but it's one of the local providers. They sound pretty cut throat about everything. But! I should sue them for being sexist since the guy's dorms don't have gaming filtered.

Now, if only I had a lawyer...
